My and my little adventuring buddy, Kara, visited Bengough, Saskatchewan for the Gateway Festival. Establishing base camp in our trusty tent in the overflow parking, we experienced a weekend of music, swimming, and exploring the Big Muddy valley.
I loved Rosie and the Riveters, Fred Penner, Kirby Criddle and Shotgun Jimmie. However, the artist I most wished to see was Corb Lund, Alberta’s modern-day troubadour. He was scheduled to play at 11:00 PM on the Friday, but a thunderstorm rolled in and I had to whisk Kara away to our tent. There, she fell asleep, and I didn’t have the heart to wake her when the band started playing at 1:00 AM. So I had to listen to my favourite songs echo throughout the campsite. It sounded like a really good show (droopy face).
